Recent 90s TVC for Knorr Broth Cubes currently airing on local channels. Our job was to create an ad that would encourage kids to eat vegetables as a daily part of their diet. The result was this MTV-style music marketing campaign that shows the 'sinabawang gulay' (soupy vegetables) dish in a fun way and that it helps make kids grow healthier and stronger and able to do more things like studying, playing, and of course, singing and dancing! Hence the title, 'Makulay Ang Buhay Sa Sinabawang Gulay' (ang ikili lang noh?). A lot of people have been saying the beat and chorus are catchy, which is good! I made the lyrics and storyboard for this commercial and it's the biggest thing I've done yet, so I'm pretty proud of it. It's pretty much a CGI smorgasbord, so there's a lot of eye candy (from Larger Than Life, the guys who make the Rounin effects!). Those guys over there did one hell of a post job on this one, so props to LTL! Celebrity Talents: Sharlene, Aaron, and Nash of Goin' Bulilit Director: Pedring Lopez Producer: Joey De Guzman Post House: Larger Than Life Lyrics & Art Direction: Your's Truly Musical Arranger: Sorry, I forgot! I just hope it actually gets kids to eat the stuff! Oh, and the biggest irony for people who know me is that I'm not fond of vegetables myself! Haha=)

 | ayaw ko tlga ng gulay! pero magaling magaling! |
 | angelbagel wrote on Jun 12, '07, edited on Jun 12, '07 i saw it on TV last sunday, on The Buzz, in between Ruffa's interview... haha, nice one=) galing how you came up with the lyrics! hehe. |
 | kamukha mo yung isang talent. yung naka orange shorts |
 | I didnt' get a word of what they said (yeah, Im a bad non-philippino speaker) but this commercial sucks ! And honestly, philippino commercial are real bad.... same as Swiss commercial, they're the best to do ugly commercial. I'll try to get one for you :-) |
 | ^ haha, touché. well, bev, at least you're frank. any constructive criticism? like why you think the ad reeked of heinousness? haha. bring on the ugliness. |
 | galing! dapat tie-up with tiki-tiki |
 | ryderaquino wrote on Jun 12, '07, edited on Jun 12, '07 ^ oo nga noh! uni + uni, haha. tnx tin=)
sana talaga makatulong ito sa kalusugan ng mga kabataan. masimportant yun kaso sa sales ng knorr (sorry john and ollie!). hahaha |
 | galing! you were the one who made this pala.i love the new campaign! i hope it works. good luck. |
 | pare, nice work on the campaign. i really hope it works. i have a great feeling it will. and you're right, mas important ang kalusugan ng mga bata kaysa sa sales. pero kung magagawa pareho eh di why not? balitaan ka namin sa results. - appreciative client |
 | is the mom Rosanna Jover? |
 | That's why you should develop good eating habits and eat more veggies. It is just a matter of acquiring the taste for it by eating a variety of veggies everyday. |
 | Gee, I wouldn't have thought of this myself.
I'm very impressed and proud of you.
I have always known you possess such great talent! |
 | Congratulations Bro! I always knew you'd be very good in creative work but this commercial surpassed my expectations. Keep it up! |
 | I was so entertained by that song that it was actually playing in my head on my way to school.
I searched for the 9 crimes song and stumbled on your blog only to find out that you're the person who did it! hahaha! Bra-vo! |
 | ^ thanks man! glad people out there appreciate this stuff. nice to know regular joes who aren't the target market of the ad enjoy it too. |
 | ^ haha, touché. well, bev, at least you're frank. any constructive criticism? like why you think the ad reeked of heinousness? haha. bring on the ugliness. OK. So the video itself is real fun. The realisation is great with this white/black/color thing, I really find it good. The atmosphere of joy and careless is very present in the video. Photography is nice. About the actors ?.. Hum... As Swiss advert, they're playing too much ; they're not natural... Of course its a commercial, and commercial has to sell and create needs, indeed...
As an abroad grown up filipina (who doesn't speak tagal), all I can say is : How can you guys create needs like that, with a whole bunch of budget, while filipino kids are just starving 1 mile from the producing area ? This is why this commercial sucks. I see it from an other eye. Like an anarchist ? communist ?... Whatever... It's just so sad for me to come to the Philippines and see how life is so unfair there.... |
 | paulgarilao wrote on Jun 18, '07, edited on Jun 18, '07 Malcolm Gladwell calls this "Stickiness factor". Stickiness means that a "message makes an impact. You can’t get it out of your head. It sticks in your memory." Gladwell shared Sesame Street have taken a lot of experiments and researches in order to empower preschoolers. It gave attention to the details and structure of the program. Since animals attract preschoolers so much, producers of Sesame Street put characters like Big Bird and Kermit the Frog in the shows to appeal to the preschoolers. In the same way, you are able to catch the attention of kids and the audience. Kids love colorful backgrounds, they also like dancing...Congratulations! |

(haha bitter). pero seriously, congrats man, and to everyone who entered and won. anyway, ako nga walang nabili at all! at least ikaw may terminator statue napanalunan! in the words of death cab for cutie, 'jealousy rides with me'. hahaha. oh, and you're never too old for kid stuff! i mean look at us, we're still into toys after all these years. haha. |
 | astig, at least my prize! yeah, me and my brother's entries were (according to a critique) more 'photoshop-ography' than 'photography'. hehe. but watcha gunna do right? i guess it was wrong to make toys look real or something, haha. it was our first time entering a contest and at toycon as well! looking forward to competing with and meeting ya' one day too man. speaking of transformers, we just bought tix for cineplex 10 at gateway on opening day! i can't wait! |

 | hehehe sabaw oo, gulay not much! :) hopefully, the tvc got to encourage kids to eat vegetables. maybe some moms out there sing and dance pa to your lyrics para lang kumain ung mga anak nila :D |
- sir kram :) |

 | yup, the mp3. i'm compiling an album of jingles i've made so watch out for that. XD |
 | nice commercial, it has a great help for moms who's having problem with their children in their appetite... |
 | @ owen: salamats! yeah the greater good of the campaign was sort of an 'advocacy' of promoting healthy eating, more than selling stuff. that's why i'm proud of this ad, cuz it doesn't just force something down your throat... but promotes an 'idea' instead... na masmasarap pag may knorr! bwahahahaha |
 | hi! thanks for sharing.... my daughter loves the song and the video.... and she's only 7 months old... pinoys are really great in creating great music and commercials... God bless u!
|
 | oh wow, that's just wonderful... nakakataba naman ng puso na may ganyang storya. makes it all worth it. thanks for sharing your great experience... God bless you as well! XD
oh, and serve her veggies while she's still young! hahaha. para hindi siya maging maarte katulad ko, hahaha XD |
 | I've been trying to figure out which Ahensiya made this. I thought JWT. Is this an Activation? Ang galing! |
 | actually, it was originally supposed to be an activation thing with the jingle and tvc as support. but i dunno, i guess the other btl activities were scrapped by client... there is a search for a kid who performs the dance moves and could win a trip to goin bulilit and P100,000 though. still, we had other more NGO-ish ideas for barangay level activities.
actually i think JWT was one of our competitors during the pitch for this campaign. thanks for the kind comments Eizza! |
 | eizzalim wrote on Jul 5, '07, edited on Jul 5, '07 ^ I bet they were...buti na lang they weren't able to "pull" something during your pitch, I've seen it happen too many times. |
 | really? do you mean for client to steal our idea but let the competitor agency execute it? |
